The program will contribute to maintain a global leading role for the Nordics on plastic pollution, specifically to negotiate and further develop and implement the new treaty on plastic pollution. The project shall enable the Nordic countries to collaborate to develop high quality and useful knowledge products on plastic pollution. It shall also enable the countries to exchange experiences and develop effective and ambitious measures to end plastic pollution nationally, regionally and internationally, including through a sector wise-approach and by promoting stakeholder action. The program will build upon joint Nordic priorities and experiences in the efforts to prevent and reduce plastic pollution, taking into account a life cycle approach and safeguarding Nordic political positions and interests.
