The goal of the project is to enhance joint regional empirical research in economics for better scientific insight and policy making by utilising the unique data opportunities in the Nordics. Accessible standardised cross-regional data will facilitate research comparing innovation- and tax policies, the effectiveness of capital access, firm behaviour, growth and industry developments previously not possible. Nordic Microdata Database is realised in a close cooperation between leading Nordic academic institutions and the Nordic networks driven by the Nordic Council of Ministers, specifically Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC). This is a researcher-driven project connecting Nordic data providers, policy makers and the field of economics and social sciences, with a long term vision. Nordic Microdata Database 2 is the second phase of the ongoing project Nordic Microdata Database (NMD).
