Representatives from the five Nordic embassies have over the past two years participated in the annual Capital Pride Parade in Washington D.C. The purpose is to display support for LGBTI rights, which is a priority topic for all of the embassies. In 2018 the embassies aim to increase the visibility of the participation by i) including a purpose-build float shaped like a Viking ship, and ii) host a reception prior to the parade with invited guests from US Congress, media, think tanks og NGOs. Related to the event the Nordic ambassadors will host a Twitter Town Hall, responding to questions from the public about LGBTI rights and policies in the Nordic countries.
