Nordic facts for the Arctic Council’s Factsheet on the impact of Climate Change

The pressures on the marine biota and Indigenous Peoples and local communities on the shores of the Arctic Ocean is increasing rapidly but information on the impacts in a compiled, easily accessible form is still lacking. To address this, Arctic Council’s working group Protection of Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) has decided to support the development of two fact sheets on the effects of climate change on marine protected areas (MPAs) and changes in the living conditions of the Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the Arctic circumpolar regions. This NCM project is positioned to ensure that the views of all the Nordic countries are acknowledged, and the indigenous knowledge of the Sámi and Inuits of Greenland is included in the PAME factsheets.
