The project aims to reorganize an international science popularization contest involving students from Quebec and Scandinavia. The partners in this project are the Institut nordique du Québec (INQ, the Fonds de recherche du Québec) and the University of the Arctic (UArctic) network consisting of partners from all Nordic countries and circumpolar regions. The contest is divided into two phases. UArctic organizes a call for PhD candidates from all academic fields and aims to have an overall balance with selection based on areas of northern research, geographical distribution so that all of the Nordic countries are repsesented, as well as gender balance. Interested Quebec students are first selected during a day of conferences where they must present their thesis in 5 minutes to the general public and an experienced jury. The six winners of the competition from Quebec then fly to the Arctic Circle Assembly, where they present their project along with six Nordic students from UArctic. In a
